WordPress & WooCommerce development

I build and maintain custom WordPress and WooCommerce systems for stores that have outgrown off-the-shelf plugins. The work ranges from custom themes and plugins to checkout logic, catalogue architecture and integrations with the rest of the business.

Who it’s for

  • Store owners whose WooCommerce site has become difficult to change or maintain
  • Agencies that need a WordPress or WooCommerce engineer for a specific build
  • Businesses with custom pricing, checkout or catalogue requirements
  • Teams running legacy WordPress that needs careful, incremental improvement

Problems this solves

  • →Checkout totals that cannot be explained, especially when discounts, tax and shipping interact.
  • →A plugin stack with overlapping responsibilities, performance cost and unclear ownership.
  • →Custom product, pricing or catalogue rules that the default WooCommerce interface cannot express.
  • →Order data that never reaches the CRM, email platform or reporting layer.
  • →A theme or plugin that works today but nobody on the team can safely update.

01Deliverables

What the work includes.

The exact scope is agreed after the first conversation. These are the building blocks this service usually covers.

01

Custom themes and plugins

Purpose-built WordPress code with clear boundaries, WordPress coding conventions and no unnecessary dependency on a page builder.

02

Checkout and pricing logic

Discount rules, tiered pricing and checkout calculations designed as an explainable pipeline that can be tested against real order scenarios.

03

Catalogue architecture

Product, variation and taxonomy structures that fit how the business actually sells, including large or attribute-heavy catalogues.

04

API and platform integrations

Connections between WooCommerce and the CRM, email platform, fulfilment service or internal tools that need trustworthy order events.

05

Performance and maintenance

Query, asset and plugin-level performance work, plus documentation and handover so the site can be maintained after launch.

02Approach

How the work gets done.

  1. 01

    Understand the system

We start with the business goal, the current stack and the constraints. I need to know what is actually breaking before proposing a build.

  2. 02

    Design the architecture

Scope, data model, integrations and success criteria are defined before implementation, so the work has a clear shape and a testable definition of done.

  3. 03

    Build in visible milestones

Work is delivered in reviewable stages on a staging environment, with decisions documented as they are made rather than after the fact.

  4. 04

    Verify and hand over

Testing, measurement validation, documentation and a walkthrough. The goal is a system the next person can operate and maintain.

04FAQ

Questions clients ask.

Do you work on existing WordPress and WooCommerce sites?

Yes. I regularly work on existing stores, including legacy code. I start by understanding the current stack and the actual failure points before changing anything.

Can you build a custom WooCommerce plugin instead of adding another off-the-shelf plugin?

Yes. When the requirement is specific enough, a focused custom plugin is often smaller, faster and easier to maintain than combining several general-purpose plugins.

Do you work with page builders?

I can work within an existing page-builder setup when it makes sense. For new builds where long-term maintainability matters, I usually recommend a custom theme with a controlled content model.

Can you fix a checkout or discount calculation that produces the wrong total?

Yes. I trace the pricing pipeline from product and cart through to checkout, reproduce the problem with real scenarios, and make the calculation explainable before changing the rule.

Do you provide ongoing maintenance?

Ongoing maintenance can be scoped for stores that need updates, monitoring, performance checks or continued development. The exact arrangement depends on the site.
